A Skins Beginning

“At least we have our health, that’s the important thing” – Cassie

There is no arguing that my friends are constantly trying to get me to watch different shows. After finally caving and watching Breaking Bad, I’ve decided it’s time for me to jump on the Skins bandwagon.

If you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend giving it a try. After only watching the first episode, I was quite hooked. The British know how to make drama! Which is also why I will be attending Grad School in the UK to pursue TV writing. The US is always remaking British Television shows, so I figured why not learn from the best?!

Now back Skins… The first episode alone is very unique. There is nothing quite like it on American Television. Of course, that is partially because of the US censorship, but within Channel 4’s 40 minute show, so much is happening and quite honestly it is very scandalous. There’s a lot of talk about virginity and the main cast is one adventurous bunch, they even steal a car and then proceed to dump it into a river in the first episode! I don’t have much more to say about it though, as I am only on episode 2. Stay tuned as I continue to blog about my experience! It addresses a lot of very important young adult issues, and is definitely worth a watch, plus within the first few minutes you’ll see a young Nicholas Hoult and a ton of other very well known British actors.

Characters to meet:

My favorite character thus far is Cassie. She’s undeniably a special character. Cassie radiates Luna Lovegood from Harry Potter and she is such a delight of a character. She definitely has her problems, but within the first episode I was attached. Can’t wait to see what’s in stored for her next.
