64 Days. That is the number of days until I run my FIRST MARATHON! Insane! Never in a million years did I ever think I would be capable of running a marathon, let alone a half marathon, let alone 10 miles, let alone 8 miles, let alone you get it! It’s a crazy concept to me, but here I am training for my first marathon and I am ecstatic.
When I started my fitness journey three years ago, I had very little faith that it would stick. I thought ‘Oh, I’ll try and stick to a program, maybe tone up a bit and hopefully lose some weight.’ But I expected it to be a fad. One where I would lose some weight and gain it all back, but I didn’t. Yes, my journey hasn’t been linear, but I’ve been overall persistent for over three years and
This journey has been life changing and
Like my girl, Paige! Paige and I first connected in the spring of 2016 at a HIIT workout in LA. Since then she has been one of my biggest accountability partners. Whether I’m up and smashing my workouts or feeling down and discouraged in or outside the gym, I know she has my back. Pick me ups? Sweaty workouts? Happy hour? Brunch? No matter what I’m feeling, Paige is always down. Friends enter your life in so many different ways and I feel truly blessed to have gained a friend like Paige thru fitness and have remained friends no matter the occasion in life. Her positive energy and constant encouragement have truly pushed me to test my limits and I know with her support I can do anything.
With the LA MARATHON only 9 weeks away, I know my determination is not lead by stubbornness, but because of the wonderful people who have & will continue to cheer me on the whole way, like Paige!
Now, I know I could leave
- If you’ve never run before, start with a Couch to
5Kapp! It will have you running a 5K in 9 weeks, I promise you!
- DRINK WATER! I cannot emphasize this enough! Water is one of the most important things you can give your body. I know water can be boring, bland, blah, but your body will run WAY BETTER if you fuel it with the right ingredients (H20)!
- Wear proper clothing! There is truly no bigger irritant to experience on a run, like wearing improper clothing. You want to wear something breathable, something that doesn’t ride up, something that supports all your movements and something with pockets! POCKETS ARE A LIFESAVER! AKA This is the reason why I love Athleta & their Contender pants & sports bras. Like wearing an armband or a waistband to carry your phone around with you while you workout is fine and all… but the freedom of being able to put your keys & phone in your pant’s pocket and not have to worry about your pants falling down is a GAME CHANGER!
So yeah, running is COOL. You should try it. Also try it with a friend. It’s way better with a friend. Because being active with a friend is the best way to go. Ok. Now stop reading and get outside.
WAIT!!! One more thing! As we get closer and closer to the marathon, I’m hoping to start doing weekly check-ins on my journey & to continue to share tips. Maybe even share my training schedule with y’all as I believe anyone can run a marathon! ANYONE! I BELIEVE IN YOU!
