This blog has evolved over the years as it started off as a travel blog then transitioned into a fitness blog and now I’m aiming to create the Ultimate outlet of the two worlds. It’s basically a lifestyle blog with a focus on health, wellness & travel, with a splash of fun, sun & photography.

I’m a Gemini, which means I’m fickled and why there’s no clear direction to this imaginative world I have created here at Wanderlust Sam. Prior to 2010, I had never been outside the United States besides Canada (it’s 3Β hours away from my hometown) and I had lived in the same house my entire life. SevenΒ years later, I have now been to 13 different countries and lived in three countries outside the United States for extended periods of time and am constantly on the hunt for my next expat adventure.

My ventures abroad included:

  • Fall 2012 – Bonn, Germany (Documentary Semester Abroad)
  • Fall 2013 – London, England (International Internship Semester Abroad)
  • Year 14/15 – Glasgow, Scotland (Master’s Degree)
  • Fall 2015 – London, England (Thesis Project / Concert Photographer)

These ventures abroad have allowed me to gain a comprehensive knowledge of what it’s like to be the loud introverted American girl in Europe and I can’t wait to share my tips of the trade when it comes to studying abroad from undergrad and grad school.

But that’s not it! In the fall of 2015, when I returned home to Washington State after completing my Master’s degree. I was feeling a bit down. I love school. Like ‘grade grubbing’ status loved school. If I could have ten degree and go to school for free I would pursue everything. However November 2015 was the end of my education career (for now…) and I was feeling lost and admittedly a bit depressed. So I decided to commit the next 12 weeks to a program I had heard friends raving about for over a year called the ‘Bikini Body Guide.’ BBG for short. The program was created by Kayla Itsines and Tobi Pearce. You can learn all about it here.

I had three months in rainy Washington to commit to changing my life with no other distractions. I was lucky to be able to focus solely on me. I recognize that and realize it can be hard to make such a dramatic change when your world is a whirlwind. But the awesome thing about BBG is that it’s only 3 workouts a week for 28 minutes & 3 LISS sessions (Low Intensity Steady State cardio, like walking for 30 minutes). That’s it! Well that and you have to start taking care of yourself and eating healthier and drinking water. I’m notorious for not drinking enough water…

But that was the beginning of my fitness journey and the entrance into the fitness world. I had no idea I would be where it would lead me, but it’s started me on a journey that I know I will be on for the rest of my life. Which is why this blog is half fitness, but also about travel! The two loves of my life.

My third love I should mention is television. That’s because I hope to be a showrunner some day and make international TV shows. Hence a degree in TV abroad. I’m a bit obsessed with the British Dramas! If you’re curious how much I love TV, check out my detailed page of shows HERE. And the last thing I must rant and rave about is my love for concert photography, which I haven’t done in over a year, but I hope to do more soon! So I leave this blurb hear and a diary of old pictures as an ode to my past life and the one career I literally would love to do for the rest of my life! There’s no greater rush than capturing a moment at a concert and feeling the passion from the fans behind you and the soul of the artist in front of you.
