Hiya. My name is Samantha. I’m a Pacific Northwest Girl currently living in Los Angeles.

I recently read this description and felt like it was a perfect description of who I aspire to be and how I’d like to live the rest of my days:

‘She is bounding with creativity, sees no obstacles, fears no challenge, thrives off adventure, is morally grounded and simply fun. She doesn’t take herself too seriously. She enjoys style, travel, festivals, and coffee with friends. She values family, friendships and the freedom of being herself. She thinks independently, is culturally curious, compassionate and expects social and ethical responsibility. She follows the latest trends but makes them her own. Her Mantra: nothing is more fashionable than confidence. Strong in values and spirit, she embodies girl power.’

I have a passion for wellness, running, writing, photography and travel. I graduated from Loyola Marymount University (BA, Film & TV Production) in 2014 & Glasgow Caledonian University (MA, TV Writing) in 2015.

This blog is a combination of my favorite things: Travel, Wellness & Dating.

Prior to 2012, I had never been outside the United States besides Canada (it’s 3 hours away from my hometown). Nine years later, I have now been to 17 different countries, 4 continents and lived in three countries outside the United States for extended periods of time and am constantly on the hunt for my next expat adventure.

My ventures abroad included:

  • Fall 2012 – Bonn, Germany (Documentary Semester Abroad)
  • Fall 2013 – London, England (International Internship Semester Abroad)
  • Year 14/15 – Glasgow, Scotland (Master’s Degree)
  • Fall 2015 – London, England (Thesis Project / Concert Photographer)

These ventures abroad have allowed me to gain a comprehensive knowledge of what it’s like to be the loud introverted American girl in Europe and I can’t wait to share my tips of the trade when it comes to studying abroad from undergrad and grad school.

Growing up, I played every sport. From gymnastics to ice skating to golf, skiing, snowboarding, soccer, volleyball, basketball and softball. I loved being active, but my health & weight was something I always struggled with. It was until I graduated from college that I came to realize that I had been suffering from a Binge Eating Disorder since a very young age.

Coming to terms and accepting this disease helped me realize what I work on to improve my health. When I returned home to Washington State after completing my Master’s degree. I was feeling a bit down. I loved school. Like ‘grade-grubbing’ status loved school. If I could have ten degree and go to school for free I would pursue everything.

However, November 2015 was the end of my education career (for now…) and I was feeling lost & admittedly depressed. So I decided to commit the next 12 weeks to a program I had heard friends raving about for over a year called the ‘Bikini Body Guide.’ BBG for short.

The program was created by Kayla Itsines and Tobi Pearce. You can learn all about it here.

I had three months in rainy Washington to commit to changing my life with no other distractions. I was lucky to be able to focus solely on me. When I began my journey, I never expected to actually stick with this ‘fitness thing.’ But its now been over three years and it still excites me to this day!

Since starting my fitness journey, I have grown a love for cycling and running and I am currently training for my first marathon in March.
