Mojo Review

Words cannot describe the magic that is seen when watching Mojo!
I gave up hours of sleep to buy Day Tickets on Dec 5th and it was the best decision of my life! Seriously! BEST DECISION OF MY LIFE! I honestly my life perspective may have changed because of this play, which is about murder, Soho London, 1950s, the white pills, Gangsters, and talking REALLY fast! Here is a list of reasons why MOJO is the best play ever!

  1. The cast is phenomenal! I had Ron Weasley, Merlin, and Mr. Bates 3 feet in front of me for 2 hours! What more in life could you want? And then Colin ended up on stages in just his knickers… Okay confession, the first time I saw this play I couldn’t look at Colin during this bit of the play because I’m naive and sheltered and it was unbelievably awkward… But then I think, what would I have done if I had seen Daniel Radcliff in Equus, now that would have been me hiding in a corner for sure. But after getting over the initial shock, I am happy to say I have matured and can now handle these things during performances, real life… well that’s another story!
  2. The Dialogue is jaw-dropping! Literally jaw-dropping! They talk so unbelievably fast in this play that I could barely keep up with half the words they say! Plus the whole accent thing doesn’t help, so in the end, I probably understood like 30% of what they said. JK. It was to incredible to miss a word! But seriously, Jez Butterworth created a work of art when he wrote MOJO! The speed is phenomenal, the character quirks are great! Everything about it flows! And it only takes place in 2 locations! With 5 characters! As an inspiring writer and director, there were a lot of things about this play that I took to heart and it made me realize how simple a movie, play, skit, show can be, if done correctly!
  3. I CAN’T THINK OF ANOTHER REASON BECAUSE I JUST LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT IT! Basically I am still in shock from seeing it… It was that good! I bought the script to, so that I can replay it in my head when I get back to the states! I seriously want to direct plays after seeing this though! Who knows what I will do next with my life… Thanks MOJO!
